What is a charter?
Charter is the rental of a vessel with or without a crew. By the way, the ship can be not only a yacht, but, for example, an airplane. Many of us take charter flights for our holidays, often cheaper than scheduled flights. A yacht charter is, accordingly, a yacht rental, i.e. ships intended for sports, recreation or tourism on the water.
Types of yacht charters
On the one hand, a yacht charter can be divided according to the type of yacht – a charter of sailing yachts or motor yachts. On the other hand, a charter differs in the presence of a crew – a bareboat charter and a crewed charter (crew charter).
A bareboat charter requires the group to have at least one person who has a skipper’s license to sail the yacht. And according to the rules of some countries, two crew members may need to have such a license. If you or other crew members do not have such a license, it is not a problem, charter companies can offer you their own skipper.
Yacht charter price
Usually a yacht is chartered for a week or two, in most countries the charter week starts on Saturday and ends on Friday evening. The cost of a yacht charter is determined based on many factors, such as the country (the cheapest are Mediterranean countries such as Greece, Turkey and Croatia), yacht parameters, travel time.
Crewed charter is usually carried out on comfortable larger yachts. Usually such yachts have all the conditions – indoor air conditioners, TVs and audio systems, a modern kitchen or even a restaurant, diving or water skiing equipment, etc. Clients on such yachts are served by the crew.
